Installing WordPress with Softaculous

WordPress is one of the most popular website platforms in the world. With Softaculous in cPanel, you can install it in just a few clicks — no coding required.

Step 1: Log into cPanel

  1. Access your cPanel account through your client area or via yourdomain.com/cpanel.

  2. Scroll down to the Software section.

  3. Click on Softaculous Apps Installer.

Step 2: Launch the WordPress Installer

  1. In Softaculous, click on the WordPress icon.

  2. Click the Install Now button.

Step 3: Configure Your Installation

Fill in the following details:

  • Choose Protocol: Select https:// if you have an SSL certificate installed, otherwise use http://.

  • Choose Domain: Pick the domain you want to install WordPress on.

  • Directory: Leave this blank to install WordPress at the root (e.g., yourdomain.com). Enter a folder name (like blog) to install in a subdirectory (e.g., yourdomain.com/blog).

Site Settings:

  • Site Name: The title of your website (can be changed later).

  • Site Description: A short tagline or slogan.

  • Enable Multisite (WPMU): Leave unchecked unless you’re setting up a network of WordPress sites.

Admin Account Setup:

  • Username: Create a secure username (do not use "admin").

  • Password: Use a strong password.

  • Email: Enter an email address for account recovery and admin notices.

Optional Settings:

  • Select Language: Choose your site’s primary language.

  • Plugins/Themes: You can optionally install recommended plugins or themes.

Step 4: Complete the Installation

Click Install at the bottom of the page.

Softaculous will take a few seconds to install WordPress. Once done, it will display your:

  • Site URL (e.g., yourdomain.com)

  • Admin URL (e.g., yourdomain.com/wp-admin)

You can now log in to your WordPress dashboard and start customizing your site.

Tips for New WordPress Users

  • Change your theme under Appearance > Themes

  • Add pages and posts from the WordPress admin menu

  • Install plugins for extra functionality

  • Keep your themes, plugins, and WordPress core updated for security
